ROUND TRIP – Jan Maarten Voskuil
The work of Jan Maarten Voskuil (1964) explores the boundaries of painting and touches on architecture, design and sculpture. His work is related to minimalism and geometric abstraction. At the same time, Voskuil tries to escape this by using deconstruction and the sloping organic surface of his work. As a result, the works appear to be touchable and sensible.
Round Trip is a journey through the artist’s oeuvre and refers at the same time to the central role that the circle plays in the construction of his paintings.
The Alphabet of Silly Colors; Roundtrip (2018) is a multiple that consists of 17 different shapes that you can extract from a circle, based on mathematical calculations. Each shape has its own color.
Vincent Uilenburg from Studio Onvervalst printed these color shapes on a transparent plastic. There is a color mixing and a play of shapes once you put the shapes over each other. The shapes can be combined endlessly.
Edition: silk-screen printing on PETG plastic, 17 shapes with a size of 23 x 23 cm (total dimension in mounted form 100 x 100 cm). Edition: 16 copies.
